Aztecs To Face Two Nationally-Ranked Pac-10 Teams This Weekend
SDSU continues its tough schedule this weekend when it travels to No. 18 Arizona State at 7 p.m. (MST) Friday, before playing host to sixth-ranked Washington at 1 p.m. Sunday on the SDSU Sports Deck. SDSU's 2004 opponents have a combined record of 76-66-18.

Last Weekend With the Aztecs
SDSU went 1-0-1 last weekend in games at Cal State Northridge and UC Santa Barbara. On Sept. 24, the Aztecs notched a 3-2 victory over the Matadors. Senior Jessica Korpela, junior Alexis Solovij and senior Courtney Burns each had a goal for SDSU.

On Sept. 26, the Aztecs and Gauchos battled to a 0-0 double overtime tie. Senior goalkeeper Sophia Perez made five saves and earned her fourth shutout of the season.

Courtney Burns The Net
Senior Courtney Burns scored the game-winning goal at the 38:16 mark to lift San Diego State to a 3-2 triumph over Cal State Northridge on Friday.

Freshman Tiphanie Elliott dribbled down the left sideline and fed the ball across the middle where Burns headed in the ball from five yards out. The goal was Burns fourth career goal for SDSU and seventh overall (Burns played one season at UC Riverside and had three goals and one assist).

Burns was shaken up on the play with a hip contusion, but still managed to put the ball away. "Courtney's goal was tremendous," said first-year head coach Mike Giuliano. "She took a big hit on the play, but showed a great deal of determination to put the ball in the net."
