COSTA MESA, Calif. - After playing five matches (14 sets) in four days, San Diego State junior Benedikt Stronk lost in the second round of the Diadora Pro Championship to Brian Wilson by a score of 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, on Thursday. The USTA Futures Event was held at the Costa Mesa Tennis Center in Costa Mesa, Calif.

Stronk won the first set 6-4 and had his chances early to take control of the second set, but Brian Wilson came back to win the frame, 6-3.

"Benedikt ran out of gas," San Diego State head coach Gene Carswell said. "He had his chances early in the second set, but couldn't pull it out."

Stronk battled in the third set, but could not overcome the former University of Illinois standout, falling in the set and the match, 6-2.

"I'm really excited to see him play well," Carswell said of Stronk's recent play. "It's a good way to go into the ITA All-American Championships in October."
