San Diego State broke its four-game losing and scoring streak with a 1-1 tie against Dartmouth in the final game of the SDSU/USD tournament Sunday afternoon on the Sports Deck. SDSU held a lead for most of the clock, but an Aztec foul in the final three minutes of the second half gave the Big Green an equalizing penalty kick which stood up through two sessions of overtime.

The Aztecs (0-4-1) dominated the game from start to finish, but Dartmouth (0-1-3) goalkeeper Rowan Anders made three outstanding saves to keep SDSU from putting the game away in the second half and in overtime.

"This was the best performance we have put forward from front to end," SDSU head coach Lev Kirshner said. "We are moving more to the level of play we were expecting in August."

SDSU scored its goal on a shot from forward Dione Scott (31:11) who took a deflected pass from Andrew DiCicco and put it past a sliding Anders from 8 yards out. Dartmouth secured a score on a penalty kick from Amar Takhar (86:55).

Standouts for the Aztecs included Scott, Eric Santiago and Heath Creager.

"Heath Creager was great in the tournament and I thought Eric Santiago helped us out very well in the back line," Kirshner said. "Dione Scott had a good tournament and scored an important goal for us."

SDSU hits the road again Wednesday, as the Aztecs open up the MPSF season against UNLV in a game scheduled for 7 p.m. in Las Vegas.
