FRESNO, CA - San Diego State slumped to its ninth straight defeat as it fell to Fresno State, 3-0 (23-30, 24-30, 22-30), Friday night at the Fresno State Invitational. The win improved the Bulldogs to 7-3 on the year while the Aztec saw their record drop to 0-9.
Melissa Stapley and Ashley Bowker had eight kills apiece to lead the Aztecs, who hit .101 as a team compared to FSU's .304 hitting percentage over the three games. Freshman Lindsey Mahan was SDSU's top hitter, finishing with a .429 attack percentage on seven kills.
Freshman libero Aime Cordeiro followed up her 19-dig performance of Friday afternoon by contributing 21 against Fresno State. With her 40 digs on the day, she improved her average to 3.24 dpg.
San Diego State concludes play in Fresno on Saturday (Sept. 18) when it faces Oral Roberts at 12:30 p.m. The Aztecs return home to face 18th-ranked Loyola Marymount on Tuesday.
