SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's golf team shaved six strokes off its first round score, finishing with a second round 316 (+24) Tuesday at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. The Aztecs remain in 17th place overall with a two-day total of 638 (+54), but are just three strokes behind 15th place UTEP and Northern Arizona, who have a total score of 635 at the par-73, 6,096-yard University of New Mexico Championship Golf Course.

SDSU senior Megan Mulhaupt (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.) had a reversal of fortunes, carding a second round 77, nine strokes better than her score on Monday. Mulhaupt tied for the team's best round of the day with freshman Anna Booth (Coffs Harbour, Australia), who is tied for 57th on the individual leader board with a two-round score of 156 (+10).

Two other Aztecs, freshman Jackie Kazarian (Dana Point, Calif.) and senior Veronica Ojeda (San Diego, Calif.), also improved their scores from Monday's first round. Kazarian had two birdies in her first nine holes to finish with an 82 (+9), while Ojeda shot a second round 80 (+7). Sophomore Jamie Oliver (Los Alamitos, Calif.) was tied for the team lead after day one, but struggled on the final six holes Tuesday to end up at 162 (+16) for the tournament.

No. 2/3 Georgia remains in the team lead by two strokes with a two-round total of 586 (+2). Host No. 10/7 New Mexico is second at 588, while BYU (591) and No. 18 Pepperdine (592) follow in third and fourth.

Oklahoma State's Karin Sjodin took over the individual lead from Georgia's Kelly Froelich with a second round 69 (-4), to lead by one stroke.

The Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational concludes Wednesday with third-round action beginning at 8 a.m. The Aztec will tee-off between 8 and 8:10 a.m.
