SAN MARCOS, TEXAS - San Diego State saw its season-opening losing streak extend to five matches as it dropped a 3-0 (23-30, 17-30, 18-30) decision to Texas State at the Bobcats' Century Tel/Honda Classic Premiere tournament on Friday. The loss left the Aztecs with an 0-5 record while the host improved to 3-2 on the year.

Texas State controlled the tempo of the match from the outset, hitting .407 over the three games compared to .136 for SDSU. The Bobcats recorded almost twice as many kills (61-34) as the Aztecs and out-blocked them at the net by a 9-3 margin.

Melissa Stapley led San Diego State with eight kills while teammate Melanie Greene chipped in with six. Greene also had a pair of service aces and seven digs. Texas State's Elizabeth Nwoke led all players with 20 kills.

The Aztecs continue tourney play Friday evening when they take on Mississippi in their second match of the day at 5:00 p.m. (CDT).
