July 17, 2004

SAN DIEGO - San Diego State head men's soccer coach Lev Kirshner announced the signing of Corona Del Mar native Trey Meek. The forward is expected to add a strong scoring punch to the veteran Aztecs in the upcoming season.

Meek comes to SDSU following a stint at powerhouse Indiana University, the 2003 National Champion, where he saw action in 27 games with 29 shots and three goals scored. In 2003, Meek played in 16 games, starting four, with 18 shots and two goals scored. He will be a junior this season and is eligible for play immediately.

"I am excited to be back in California, and excitedto be playing at San Diego State," Meek said. "I want to contribute and help SDSU win games."

In the prep ranks, Meek was named all-league as a junior and senior. He also participated in ODP programs at the state and regional levels. Meek also won a club state championship with fellow Aztec Blake Perry.

"We are certainly delighted to have Trey return home to California," said Kirshner. "He was among the best strikers in southern California out of high school and he comes in as a legitimate goal scorer who can enhance our attack."

Meek is the cousin of current U.S. National team star and MLS player Joe Max Moore. He will major in sociology at San Diego State.
