Aztec Golfers Fall Short

SUNRIVER, Ore. - The San Diego State men's golf team saw its season end Saturday afternoon when the Aztecs shot a final-round 309 in the NCAA West Regional in Sunriver, Ore.

The 309, on the heels of rounds of 287 and 296, left San Diego State with a 28-over-par 892 and relegated the Aztecs to no better than 13th in the 27-team field. The top 10 squads advance to the NCAA Championship.

UCLA won the regional with a one-over par 865 to edge New Mexico by one shot.

Encinitas freshman Aaron Goldberg led the Aztecs with a three-round total of 218, two shots over par. He shot a 76 on Saturday after opening the tournament with rounds of 69 and 73.
