Pair Of Aztecs Headed To Home Depot Track & Field Invitational Saturday

SAN DIEGO - San Diego State senior Nicole Ireland (Las Vegas, Nev.) and former Aztec standout Miesha McKelvy will be among some of the world's top talent Saturday at the Home Depot Invitational, the first stop on USA Track & Field's 2004 Outdoor Golden Spike Tour. The meet, now in its second season, will take place at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., beginning at noon.

Ireland is entered in the Olympic development 400-meter hurdles, starting at 3:10 p.m, while McKelvy will compete in her specialty event, the 100 hurdles, at 1:27 p.m., against the likes of Olympian Gail Devers and reigning world champion Perdita Felicien.

The 2004 Home Depot Invitational will also include international gold medalists Marion Jones, Maurice Greene, Eunice Barber, Adam Nelson, John Godina and Meskerem Legesse. Overall, the fields in the 19 events comprise three dozen Olympians from 18 countries.
