UNLV Women's Tennis Wins Three Three-Set Matches to Defeat SDSU

SAN DIEGO - The 48th-ranked UNLV women's tennis team claimed three three-set singles matches to dispose of 69th-ranked San Diego State 5-2 on Thursday afternoon at the SDSU Courts.

The Aztecs claimed the doubles point and won the opening set on three of the six singles court before the Rebels rallied to win all three matches that went to three sets.

San Diego State claimed the doubles point with victories at number one and three doubles. The Aztecs top duo of Katalina Romero and Indra Erichsen, ranked 31st nationally, were 8-2 victors at one.

UNLV won the first two singles matches to take a 2-1 lead. The Aztecs ties the score at two when Romero claimed a 6-1, 6-3 victory at number two.

The Rebels won the final three singles matches, to improve to 12-5 overall and 2-1 in Mountain West Conference play. The Aztecs drop to 5-12 overall and 1-2 in league play. San Diego State is back in action tomorrow against Colorado State at 2 p.m. PDT.
