ST. GEORGE, Utah - San Diego State's Jenna Wilson placed fourth and Heather McRae finished tied for fifth to lead the Aztec women's golf team to a third-place showing at the BYU Dixie Classic on Tuesday at the Entrada at Snow Canyon Golf Course.
SDSU shot 308 in its third and final round to finish with a 55-over par total of 919. The Aztecs, currently ranked No. 43 by Golfweek, notched their third straight top-five finish.
Wilson shot six-over par 222, draining five birdies on the final day helping her card an even-par 72. It was the second consecutive top-five finish for Wilson, who was runner-up at the Mountain View Collegiate last week. The freshman previously won the Lady Aztec Invitational and finished second at the Heather Farr Memorial.
McRae entered the final day tied for second at two-over 146, but four bogeys and a double-bogey on the back nine dropped her into a fifth-place tie, finishing with a seven-over 223, including a 77 in her final round. The junior still recorded her third-straight top-10 finish and leads SDSU with five top 10s on the season.
Aztec senior Shayna Miyajima finished tied for 19th after shooting 230, including a 76 on Tuesday. Completing the scoring for the Aztecs was sophomore Megan Mulhaupt, who fired a 244 to finish tied for 43rd.
UNLV finished atop the 13-team field with a 12-over par 876 for the tournament. The Rebels' Sunny Oh shot a one-under par 215 to garner the individual title.
The Aztecs will have the next two weeks off before traveling to Sunriver, Ore., for the Mountain West Conference championship, April 22-24.
