MARINA DEL REY, Calif. - The San Diego State women's crew team started its spring schedule at the Parker Cup Regatta in Marina Del Rey, Calif., on Saturday. The novice four and novice eight boats claimed wins, while the second varsity eight boat (7:22.0) was edged in the last 500 meters by host Loyola Marymount (7:19.5). The varsity eight boat (7:17.5) also finished second to LMU (7:08.4).
"I am really pleased with today's performances," head coach Jennifer Zebroski said. "We improved on last year's results in the varsity eight. I feel we can gain on LMU in the following weeks and improve our sprinting with hard work on the rowing machines and on the water."
The novice four (9:08.1) beat out UC Irvine (9:13.6) and Loyola Marymount (9:20.0). The novice eight (7:42.6) also picked up a victory.
San Diego State will have their lightweight boat face off with the University of San Diego and UC San Diego at 6:45 a.m. on Sunday. The entire team will have their Alumni and Family Day on March 13 with festivities beginning at Mission Bay in San Diego at 7:30 a.m. The alumni race starts at 8:30 a.m.
