TUCSON, Ariz. - San Diego State sits in third place after two rounds of the Mountain View Collegiate in Tucson, Ariz. after posting scores of 296 and 299 for a 19-over par total of 595. The Aztecs are seven strokes off the pace set by the University of Denver. Freshman Jenna Wilson led SDSU in the first day of play as she is in second at one-under par 143, two strokes off the lead.
Wilson, who has already won the Lady Aztec Invitational and finished second at the Heather Farr Memorial, opened with an even par 72 and shot a one-under 71 in the afternoon. Heather MacRae is in 14th after shooting 75-72 for a score of 147. MacRae has been under 80 in 16 straight rounds dating back to SDSU's opening tournament, the longest streak for the Aztecs.
Megan Malhaupt posted a 74 in the opening round, the third lowest score for the Aztecs, and sits in 53rd after the first day. Sandy Kim, playing in her first tournament since suffering a back injury in the fall, shot 75 in the first round. Shayna Miyajima shot 77-76 to round out the scoring for SDSU.
The final 18-holes of play will be held on Sunday morning, with the Aztecs looking for their second straight finish in the top two.
