Kaneohe, Hawaii - San Diego State sits in second place after the first two rounds of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational in Hawai'i. SDSU shot 302 in the morning, the best score in the first round, and followed with a 299 in the afternoon. The Aztecs, ranked 42nd in the country, trail No. 4 New Mexico by seven strokes and lead No. 29 Pepperdine by four shots. Three Aztecs sit in the top 10 individually with freshman Jenna Wilson leading the way at four-over 148 and in sixth position. The final 18 holes will be played on Wednesday.
Wilson opened up the day with one-over 73 and followed with a 75. Heather MacRae is only one shot back of Wilson and is in eighth at 149. MacRae tied the low score for the first round with an even-par 72 before shooting a 77 in the second round. Shayna Miyajima is in 10th place after shooting 77 and 73 for a 150 total. Jamie Oliver posted a two-over 74 in the second round after an 80 in the first round and is tied for 22nd.
SDSU will go for its second win of the year and third top two finish. SDSU won the Aztec Invitational and placed second at the Heather Farr Memorial in the fall.
