SAN DIEGO - The 57th-ranked San Diego State women's tennis team made quick work of Princeton, claiming a 6-1 victory on Monday afternoon at the SDSU Courts.
The Aztecs won eight of nine matches, including five singles matches in straight sets to snap a six-match losing streak. It was the first victory for San Diego State since Feb. 7th. Prior to Monday, the Aztecs had faced eight straight nationally-ranked opponents, including two teams ranked among the top eight.
San Diego State's top doubles team of Indra Erichsen and Katalina Romero clinched the doubles point with an 8-6 victory over Jessica Siebel and Darcy Robertson of Princeton. The Aztec pair, ranked 30th nationally, improved to 11-4 this season and 6-1 in dual action with the victory.
The Aztecs claimed victories in the top five singles positions. Dita Hauerlandova, Romero, Erichsen, Alesya Vidov and Patricia Graf all won in straight sets.
The Aztecs are back in action on Wednesday when San Diego State will play host to Purdue. Match time is set for 10 a.m. PST.
