March 8, 2004

SAN DIEGO - San Diego State forward Aerick Sanders' outstanding play during his senior season has been recognized by the United States Basketball Writers Association as he was selected to the District 9 Team.

Sanders leads the Aztecs in scoring and rebounding averaging 16.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. He is the only Aztec to start every game, has led the squad in scoring a team high 12 times, including a career high 34 points against Portland, and is shooting 55.5 percent from the field. Sanders' rebounding totals rank 13th in the country, while his shooting percent is the 39th in NCAA Division I. Overall, Sander ranks in the top seven of six Mountain West Conference statistical categories.

This is the fourth straight season SDSU has earned all-district plaudits with Tony Bland earning the award last season and Randy Holcomb being named the two years prior.

Sanders was one of four players not from a PAC-10 school that was named to the district 9 squad.
