Box Score

AUSTIN, TEXAS - San Diego State was shut out for the second time in three days with three Texas pitchers combining to toss a one-hitter as the Longhorns defeated the Aztecs, 9-0, Sunday afternoon to complete a sweep of their three-game series. In the process, UT won its fourth in a row and improved to 15-2. The loss was San Diego State's third straight as it saw its record drop to 7-13.

Texas' Sam LeCure gave up just one hit over seven innings as he improved to 3-0 while setting a career high with seven strikeouts. Kyle McCulloch and Buck Cody finished up the final two innings and kept the one-hitter in tact.

Aztec starter Chris Hartshorn (4-2) gave up seven runs on six hits over his six innings of work as he dropped his first decision since Feb. 8.

The Longhorns got on the board early with an unearned run in the first inning. Leadoff hitter Dooley Prince reached on an error by SDSU second baseman Lance Zawadzki, stole second and third, and scored on a fielder's choice off the bat of second baseman Seth Johnston.

Texas tacked on three more in the fourth on a two-run triple by right fielder Ryan Russ, who later scored on a fielder's choice. Russ had another RBI triple in the sixth as the Longhorns scored three times with the help of a two-run homer by Drew Stubbs. UT also added single markers in both the seventh and eighth innings off Aztec reliever Drew Jenson.

San Diego State's lone hit in the contest was a leadoff single by Jake McLintock in the third. The Aztecs' only other base runners were center fielder Landon Burt (walked) and Jordan Swaydan (hit by pitch). No SDSU runner advanced past first base on the afternoon.

Up next for San Diego State is a three-game home series with 24th-ranked North Carolina State next weekend. The first game between the Aztecs and Wolfpack is set for Friday, March 5, at 6:00 p.m. at Tony Gwynn Stadium.
