-The Records: The San Diego State basketball team (8-16, 3-8 MWC) matched its conference win total from a year ago with a thrilling 52-50 victory over Air Force Thursday night in the first game played in Peterson Gym since 1997.
The Aztecs try to extend their win streak against the MWC's hottest team in New Mexico, which has won five straight and sits in second place in the league standings at 17-7 overall and 9-2 in conference play. The two sides battle Saturday at 5 p.m. in SDSU's home finale with the Aztecs attempting to even the all-time series at 14 games apiece following a 76-42 loss in Albuquerque back on Jan. 29.
-SDSU Head Coach Jim Tomey: Tomey (Michigan '81) is in his second season at San Diego State after taking over the Aztec helm on April 9, 2002. His career and Aztec head coaching record is 17-34.
