SAN MARCOS, Calif. - The Aztec Battle at the Lakes has completed its first round of action with the University of LaVerne in first place by two strokes over Holy Names College after posting a 289 total on Saturday. LaVerne's Andrew Garcia is the individual leader after firing a 68, with SDSU's Aaron Goldberg one stroke behind in second place. All six Aztecs played as individuals in the tournament. The 12-team tournament will conclude with 18-holes on Sunday at the Lake San Marcos Country Club.
CSU San Marcos and University of San Diego sit in third and fourth place respectively after shooting 295 and 297. Cory Scoggin of CSU San Marcos is third after the first 18-holes after posting a 70. SDSU's Kyle Forbes sits in a tie for fourth place with a 71.
