SDSU Travels To San Antonio For Roadrunner Intercollegiate

San Diego State heads to the University of Texas of San Antonio for the Roadrunner Intercollegiate on March 1-2 as one of the favorites in the field. SDSU enters the tournament as the second highest ranked squad among the 17 teams entered. The tournament will be 54 holes beginning with 36 on Monday and finishing with 18 on Tuesday at the Oak Hills Country Club.
* San Diego State is coming off an 11th place finish in its first spring tournament of the season at the John Burns Intercollegiate , where 11 of the teams were in the top 50 in Golfweek's rankings.
* The Aztecs will show their depth in the second tournament of the spring by having three new players in the lineup heading into this weekend. Mark Warman and Linus Nilsson are the returning pair playing in their second tournament of the spring after finishing 16th and 37th, respectively, last week at the Burns Intercollegiate. Andrew Scott and Cory Segall will make there spring debut after recording solid fall seasons, including each posting a runner-up finish. Chris Cole, a redshirt freshman from Wales, will round out the squad as he makes his Aztec debut.

Scouting the Roadrunner Intercollegiate
* SDSU enters as the second highest ranked team in the 17 team field at No. 42, just eight spots behind Kansas who starts as the tournament favorite. The host, UTSA, sits at No. 46 and is the last team ranked in the top 50. However, six additional schools are ranked in the top 100, including Missouri at No. 63 and Wichita State at No. 65. This is the first season SDSU has participated in the Roadrunner Intercollegiate.

Recapping the John Burns Intercollegiate
* SDSU finished in 11th place out of 22 teams at the John Burns Intercollegiate in Hawii last week against a tough field that featured 11 of the top 50 teams in the nation. The Aztecs shot eight-under 856 after shooting rounds of 283-287-286, respectively.
* Mark Warman led SDSU finishing at five-under 211 and in 16th place. It was the fourth top 20 finish of the season for Warman and the 21st top 20 of his career.
* Junior Linus Nilsson posted his best result of the year, as he placed 37th at two-under 214 which was also the second best score for SDSU. Aaron Choi and Aaron Goldberg finished out the Aztec scoring at even-par 216 to tie for 48th position.

Warman's World
* After entering the season as one of Golf World's top 50 players to watch on the year, SDSU senior Mark Warman has not disappointed. He has posted four top-20 finishes in five tournaments and holds an outstanding 71.33 stroke average, the best on the team. Warman began the spring with a top-20 at the John Burns after placing a season-best third in at Fresno Classic to finish the fall after shooting a 10-under 206. Warman also was eighth in both the Mid Pines Intercollegiate and the Husky Invitational. Warman is ranked 42nd in Golfstat's latest individual national rankings and 74th in Golfweek's listings.

By The Numbers
* The Aztecs begin the spring season ranked No. 42 by Golfweek with a rating of 72.09. Against the nation's 53rd-ranked schedule, the Aztecs are 48-37-1 overall and 29-36-1 against Golfweek's Top 100.
* According to Golfstat's 2003 Division I team rankings, the Aztecs are ranked 50th with a head-to-head record of 234-49.
