TUCSON, Ariz. - SDSU shot its best score of the tournament in the final round to finish at 945 and in 12th place at the Arizona Wildcat Invitational. The Aztecs fired a 310 in the final round after shooting 315 and 320 on the first two days, respectively. No. 11 Vanderbilt defeated a field with 11 teams ranked in the top 40 and four teams ranked in the top 10 in Golfweek's latest listing. Vanderbilt shot 869 (+17), four strokes better than No. 10 Ohio State and five strokes better than No. 2 UCLA.
Senior Shayna Miyajima shot 76 in the final round to lead SDSU at 16-over 232, which placed her 40th in the field. Heather MacRae finished the tournament at 17-over 233, after shooting 75-79-79 to finish in 42nd. MacRae was the only Aztec to have all three rounds in the 70's, giving her 11 straight rounds under 80.
Freshman Jenna Wilson tied MacRae for the best Aztec round of the tournament with a 75 in the final round to finish at 236 in 48th place. Jamie Oliver and Megan Malhaupt shot 246 and 247, respectively, to finish the scoring for SDSU.
SDSU, ranked No. 38 entering the tournament, has a couple weeks off before heading to the Hawaii Invitational on March 16-17.
