SAN DIEGO - San Diego State senior Megan Storey has been named to the all- Mountain West Conference Swimming and Diving first team for her performance at the recently completed league championship meet held in Oklahoma city last weekend. Storey finished third in the 1,650 freestyle in a time of 16:51.26, SDSU's top placing in an individual event. Her time was also a provisional qualifying mark for the NCAA Championships to be held in mid-March.
Another Aztec senior, freestyle specialist Hannah Ryan, was awarded second team all-MWC honors after placing eighth in the 200 freestyle in 1:54.75.
Over the course of the four-day meet, San Diego State set one school record and also turned in a dozen times that rank among the top five all-time bests in the history of the Aztec swim program. The 400 freestyle relay quartet of Ryan, Emily Schmied, Stella Karoly and Caitlin Friedhoff swam a 3:30.39 to eclipse the old record of 3:31.34 that had stood since the 1979-80 season.
