Last week SDSU won the UC Davis Shootout championship, its first outright tournament title in school history. It also gave the Aztecs an 8-1 record on the season, its best start in the program's 10-year history. SDSU will try and improve to 2-0 in MPSF action when it plays its first home game of the 2004 season against Hawai'i on Thurs., Feb. 26, at 6 p.m.
*The Aztecs then travel to the UC Santa Barbara Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, a tournament featuring each of the top eight teams in the country and 13 of the top 14 in the latest AWPCA rankings. SDSU will face No. 14 UC Davis in the first round on Sat., and depending on the result face either No. 4 Long Beach State or No. 13 UC Irvine in the second game of the day. SDSU will play two matches on Sunday with the opponents to be determined by Saturday's results.

Hartzell Breaks Scoring Record; Named MPSF Player Of The Week
* Three-time all-American and all-MPSF selection Holly Hartzell has impacted the SDSU record books once again, this time by breaking the school's all-time scoring record. Hartzell tallied 12 goals over the weekend to jump past Amber Prestegard and Larisa Baltgalvis, who previously held the mark with 235 goals when she played in 1997-00. Hartzell now has 241 scores in just over three seasons of action, and leads the Aztecs with 20 goals this season. She is already the only SDSU player to score 60+ goals in three seasons.
* For her efforts over the past week, Hartzell was named MPSF player of the week. It is the third time she has garnered the honor after receiving it in 2001 and 2002. The only other Aztec to earn player of the week honors was Baltgavis in 2000, the week she set the scoring record.
* Hartzell not only moved up the scoring list but also moved into second on the career assists list, and fourth on the all-time steals list. Hartzell recorded three assists against Cal State Northridge, which gave her 72 assists in her career, passing Casey Finnegan for second place. Hartzell also passed Baltgalvis on the career steals list after notching four steals for 167 overall.

Scouting This Week's Opponents
* The Aztecs begin the week with an MPSF matchup with Hawai'i. A year ago, the two squads split two matches with Hawai'i taking the regular season meeting, 4-3, at home. * SDSU begins action at the UC Santa Barbara tournament against No. 14 UC Davis. The Aggies are 9-3 overall and have won seven of their last eight.
* The Aztecs will either have a rematch with No. 4 Long Beach State or No. 13 UC Irvine in the second game of the day. LBSU handed SDSU its only loss of the season to date, an 8-3 set back at the UCSD Invitational, while the Aztecs won at UCI 4-2 in MPSF action.

Notables
* Junior Dominique Delgado has posted a team-high 16 assists on the year, and has been moving up the career chart. * Senior Sandy Onweller snapped out of a scoring slump with seven goals over the weekend, including a season-high three against UCSD to lead the Aztecs. Onweller now has 10 goals on the season, which ranks third on the team, along with nine assists and 13 steals, ranking second in both categories for SDSU.
