* SDSU enters the tournament as the highest ranked team at No. 5. The Aztecs will face Cal State Bakersfield to begin the competition on Saturday at 8 a.m. SDSU then will take on Cal State Northridge at 3 p.m on Saturday. Sunday's schedule will include two games and be determined by the records in pool play.

Recapping Last Week's Action
* SDSU won its first MPSF game of the season, 4-2, at UC Irvine on Thursday behind the play of senior utility Chelsy Smith (Roseville, Calif./Sierra College). Smith had a hand in all four Aztec goals, with a score and three assists, and led the defense with a career-high six steals in the win.
* SDSU used a balanced offensive attack to earn the win as four different players scored goals. It was the second time this season that four players have scored one goal apiece in an Aztec win.
* Junior 2-meter Holly Hartzell (Vista, Calif./Fallbrook HS) scored in her fourth game of the year, and leads SDSU with eight goals and a .500 shooting percentage.

Scouting the UC Davis Shootout
* The Aztecs begin the tournament against Cal State Bakersfield, who SDSU has defeated in all four previous matchups. SDSU finishes the first day against Cal State Northridge. Northridge is 2-2 on the season and is coming off a 7-6 overtime victory against No. 15 UC San Diego. The Aztecs won the only previous matchup with the Matadors, 9-2, in March 2002.
* UC Davis is the second highest ranked team in the field at No. 13, followed by UC San Diego at No. 15, and Arizona State at No. 16. Overall, SDSU is 59-9 all-time against the nine-team field.

Notables
* Senior Chelsy Smith played her best game as an Aztec against UC Irvine, recording a career-high six steals and contributing to all four SDSU goals. Smith scored her sixth goal of the season and tallied three assists. She leads the Aztecs with 11 steals and is second in scoring with six goals and a .400 shooting percentage.
* Junior Dominique Delgado (Lompoc, Calif./Cabrillo HS) has posted a team-high eight assists on the year, and has moved into sixth place on SDSU's all-time list with 49 career assists. Delgado needs three more assists to move past Megan Dunbar into fifth place.

Hartzell Preparing For Record Breaker
* Three-time All-American and All-MPSF selection Holly Hartzell has made her presence known in the Aztec record books ever since joining the Aztec roster three seasons ago in 2001. The senior 2-meter currently has 229 career goals and stands third on the SDSU scoring list. Hartzell needs only seven scores to break the Aztecs' all-time career goals record of 235 by Larisa Baltgalvis. Hartzell leads SDSU in scoring with eight goals this season. She also is the only Aztec to score 60 goals in three different years, and is second on the single-season goals list with 90 tallies as a freshman in 2001.
* Hartzell is also third in career assists with 69 and fifth on the career steals list with 163. She needs three assists to move into second place and three steals to move into fourth place.

She has twice held opponents to just two goals this season, and three times in the last six games dating back a 5-2 victory over Cal to finish last year. The last time an SDSU opponent was held to two goals prior to that game was the 9-2 win over Northridge in March 2002.
* Zabel has accumulated 422 saves in 67 career games. Zabel ranks third on SDSU's all-time career saves list and needs only saves to move past Heather Stiles into second place.

Head Coach Carin Crawford
* In her sixth season leading the Aztec program, Crawford has guided the Aztecs to five straight top-eight national finishes and at least 18 wins every year while compiling an overall record of 109-79.
