Aztecs Fall In Double-OT To Colorado State

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) - Micheal Morris scored six of his 24 points in the second overtime as Colorado State ended a four-game losing streak with a 92-82 victory over San Diego State Saturday night.

Morris was 10-for-15 from the line and Matt Nelson had 21 points and 13 free throws for Colorado State (9-8, 1-3 Mountain West). Matt Williams added 21 points and 10 rebounds.

The Rams shot a school-record 53 free throws and converted 37, two short of their record set against Oral Roberts in 1989.

Brandon Heath led San Diego State (11-7, 2-1) with 26 points. Wesley Stokes added 16 while Aerick Sanders had 15 points and 16 rebounds.

Nelson and Morris opened the second overtime with baskets before Heath's dunk and layup closed the gap to 79-77. Morris' dunk and two free throws by Nelson and one free throw by Williams gave the Rams an 84-77 cushion with 1:10 left.

Heath tied the game with a 3-pointer at 62-62 with six seconds left in the first overtime.

Colorado State appeared to have the game won in regulation when Williams sank two free throws with 1:02 remaining after a 3-pointer by Morris to make it 62-59. Sanders hit a rebound basket and Chris Walton made 1-of-2 free throws with eight seconds left to tie it at 62.

Troubled by 12 first-half turnovers, Colorado State led 28-26 at the break on two free throws by Nelson in the final 12 seconds. Chris Manker's 3-pointer put San Diego State ahead 14-10 with 14:10 left, but the Aztecs were 3-for-21 on field goals the rest of the period, in which they shot 21 percent.

San Diego State set season lows with 33 percent shooting, 59 percent free-throw shooting and three 3-pointers for the game.
