Noting the 2003 Aztecs
* SDSU finished in the top six in seven of its 10 races.

* The Aztecs' logged their best performance at the NCAA district meet in more than five years and improved three spots from their 18th-place finish in 2002. SDSU also jumped one spot in the team standings at the MWC meet (6th), after placing seventh each of the last two seasons.

* The Aztecs won the Long Beach State Invitational on Oct. 18, their first team title since winning the University of Hawai'i meet three years ago. SDSU beat out nine other squads, finishing with 27 total points in the 86-runner field.

* In her only season as an Aztec, senior Marie Nilsson (Kil, Sweden) made her case as one of the best in SDSU program history. Below is just a few of Nilsson's accomplishment:

-Logged three of the top-four 6K times in SDSU history, including a school record of 21:04 at the NCAA regional meet.

-Team's top runner at every meet she participated in and tallied five, top-seven individual finishes overall.

-Posted the best-ever finish and time by an Aztec at the MWC championships, coming in fourth overall in 21:53. Nilsson's finish earned her a spot on the seven-member Mountain West Conference first team, becoming the first SDSU runner so honored in the meet's five-year history.

-The first Aztec to be named Mountain West Conference Runner of the Week twice in a season.

-Recorded the best finish by an SDSU women's runner at the Aztec Invitational in 22 years (21 total meets), coming in fourth.
