SAN DIEGO STATE Aztecs (3-3)
-When & Where: Sun., Dec. 14, 2003, Cox Arena (12,414), San Diego, Calif., 2:00 p.m.

-The Records: The San Diego State women's basketball team will look to rebound from a disappointing loss to rival USD when Southern Methodist University comes to town for a Sunday afternoon game at Cox Arena. The Aztecs have dropped their last two contests, after winning three in a row, but can improve to 4-3 with a victory against the Mustangs. The 4-3 mark would be the team's best record to start a season since the 1996-97 squad went 5-2.
Southern Methodist, which has been out of action for the last 11 days, brings a 1-3 overall record to San Diego. All three of the Mustangs' losses have come at the hands of ranked foes, including No. 3 Texas Tech (77-37), No. 16 Oklahoma (85-63) and No. 19 Texas Christian (74-64). SMU's lone win of the season came back on Nov. 28, against Texas-Arlington, 74-71.
-In The RPI: In the third RPI released by the WBCA on Dec. 10, SDSU is ranked 315th, while SMU is 41st of the 324 NCAA Division I teams. The Aztecs are 278th in the Jeff Sagarin/College Basketball News rankings.
-SDSU Head Coach Jim Tomey: Tomey (Michigan '81) is in his second season at San Diego State after taking over the Aztec helm on April 9, 2002. His career and Aztec head coaching record is 12-21.
-SMU Head Coach Rhonda Rompola: Rompola is in her 13th season as head coach at SMU. Her SMU and career record is 223-139.
-Series History: SMU leads 2-0 (Last: SMU def. SDSU, 66-54, in San Diego, 2/12/98).
