SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The San Diego State women's crew team rowed on ergs for 3-1/2 hours in front of Cox Arena on Nov. 21 as fans entered the arena to watch the SDSU men's and women's basketball teams begin their 2003-04 seasons. The team raised $900 and appreciates everybody who donated.
If you still wish to give, donations will be gladly accepted. Checks can be made payable to Aztec Athletics Foundation-Women's Crew and can be mailed to: Department of Athletics-Women's Crew, San Diego State University, 5500 Campanile Drive, San Diego, CA 92182.
All donations will be used to purchase equipment, such as rowing boats and oars. The average rowing shell costs approximately $25,000 and one oar costs $300. All donations are tax deductible.
In addition to a regular sponsorship, boat-naming rights can be arranged. SDSU's top racing boats have not yet been christened with a name. These boats are raced throughout the country as well as at the San Diego Crew Classic, a local regatta that hosts 30,000 spectators.
Contact head coach Jennifer Zebroski with any questions or for further information on boat-naming rights. She can be reached at (619) 594-0650 or by e-mail at jzebrosk@mail.sdsu.edu.
The Aztecs begin their spring season with a scrimmage on Feb. 21 against Orange Coast College at Mission Bay in San Diego and on March 6 in the Parker Cup Regatta in Marina Del Rey, Calif.
