Nov. 8, 2003

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - San Diego State ran its winning streak to four matches with a 3-0 (30-26, 30-22, 30-23) win over New Mexico in Albuquerque Saturday night. The win improved the Aztecs (17-11) to 7-5 in Mountain West Conference play and allowed them to clinch at least the number-four seed for the upcoming MWC Tournament later this month. The loss dropped the Lobos to 4-22 overall and 1-11 in league play.

SDSU was led by the play of middle blocker Megan Schauermann, who finished with 13 kills, five blocks and a .476 hitting percentage on the night. Senior Aspen McPartland was held to seven kills for the match, but hit .309 and contributed seven blocks.

New Mexico got 13 kills from Anna Reines and a match-high 10 digs from Adah Burke.

The Aztecs hit .248 over the three games while holding the host team to a .100 attack percentage. SDSU was also dominant at the net, compiling 12 team blocks to five for the Lobos.

The win means that San Diego State can finish no lower than fourth in the final conference standings as it holds a three-game lead over fifth-place UNLV with two matches remaining. SDSU can finish tied for third in the final standing if it wins its final two matches vs. Utah (Friday, Nov. 14) and Brigham Young (Saturday, Nov. 15) at home next weekend.
