SAN DIEGO - San Diego State men's assistant soccer coach Dave Siracusa has been named the San Jose State head women's soccer coach with his duties beginning on December 2.
Siracusa spent the past three seasons as an assistant coach for the Aztecs and was in charge of recruiting, fundraising, organizing camps and the program's community service activities. He is also the associate director of soccer operations for the Aztec Soccer Academy.
Prior to San Diego State, Siracusa worked at CS Stanislaus as the head men's and women's coach. He took over the dual coaching duties in 1999 after starting the women's program in 1998. He was the first head women's coach in school history and was hired in June 1998 and spent the next two months recruiting 22 student-athletes who competed during the 1998 season.
Siracusa served as an assistant coach for the 1997 Sonoma State Cossacks team. That team finished with a 14-4-2 mark, earned a berth in the NCAA tournament, won a NCAC championships, was ranked eighth nationally and produced two All-Americans.
He has extensive experience coaching high school and club teams. The past two years Siracusa has served as the assistant director of soccer operations and club coach for the San Diego Hotspurs.
Siracusa earned his bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Sonoma State in 1998 and is working on his master's degree in organization and sports psychology from San Diego State. A Bay Area native, Siracusa is a member of the Riordan High School "Hall of Fame." He and his wife Dena have a daughter Mia Rose.
