SAN DIEGO - Aztec sophomore Ashlee Dunlap (Los Angeles, Calif.) and freshman Michelle Elliott (Pasco, Wash.) combined to score 43 of the team's 67 points as San Diego State claimed its first win of the 2003-04 campaign, 67-52, over visiting Nevada Monday at Cox Arena. The Aztecs shot 63.6 percent in the second half (14-of-22) after shooting only 18.2 percent (4-of-22) in the second half of Friday's 52-47 loss to Saint Mary's.

Dunlap recorded her first double-double of the season, posting a career-high 23 points to go along with 10 rebounds. Elliott also scored 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting, giving San Diego State two 20-point scorers for the first time since Jamey Cox and Claire Swinbank scored 24 and 20, respectively, against UNLV on Feb. 24, 2001. Elliott has now scored in double figures her first two collegiate games after recording a team-high 12 points against Saint Mary's on Friday.

Aztec freshman guard Jessica Huettl (Eau Claire, Wis.) scored her first 14 points of the season tonight, bolstered by a 9-of-12 effort from the free-throw line.

The game opened with the two sides exchanging the lead eight times in the first 15:29. The first three-point lead by either team came on Nevada guard Jocelyn Mancebo's three-pointer with 8:52 remaining in the first half. The 13-10 margin would be the Wolf Pack's largest of the game as neither team led by more than five until a three-pointer by guard Courtney Fritz (Newberg, Ore.) gave San Diego State a 30-24 advantage with 18:19 remaining in the second half.

The Aztecs would gradually extend their lead to as many as 15 points in the second half on six occasions, including the final score at 67-52.

SDSU, which finished with a 44 percent field-goal percentage from the field, also shot 19-of-23 (.82.6 percent) from the free-throw line.

Mancebo scored 15 points for the Wolf Pack, while guard Kate Saltmarsh added 10.

SDSU heads on its first road trip to the year, traveling to Big West Conference schools Cal State Fullerton Monday and UC Irvine Tuesday. Both games are set for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
