Two Aztecs Named To All-MWC Volleyball Team

Nov. 19, 2003

San Diego - San Diego State seniors Aspen McPartland and Megan Schauermann have been named to the 2003 all-Mountain West Conference team by a vote of the league's coaches. It was the second straight all-league honor for McPartland and the first for Schauermann, both of whom will conclude their four-year Aztec careers at this week's MWC Volleyball tournament in Peterson Gym.

McPartland, a middle blocker from San Diego (Grossmont HS), leads the team in total kills (383), kill average at 3.68 kpg and hitting percentage (.332). She is one of only the conference players to hit better than 0 and average more than three kills per game this season. She will finish her Aztec career ranked among the top 10s in kills, digs and block assists.

Schauermann, a middle blocker from Vancouver, Wash. (Hudson's Bay HS), leads the team as well as the league in blocking at 1.60 blocks per game. That mark ranks fifth in the nation this week. She ranks third on the SDSU single-season list in block assists with 159 this fall and is eight away from tying the school record in that category.

San Diego State begins play in the MWC Championship Tournament Thursday evening (Nov. 20) against UNLV at 7:00 p.m.
