A Buzz In The Air For Game Against Falcons

Nov. 18, 2003

San Diego State closes its 2003 football season by hosting the Air Force Academy on Saturday, Nov. 22nd. It is the first home game for the Aztecs since fires ravaged the county and the Athletics Department has several special events for firefighters and fire victims.

The activities actually began over the weekend when the San Diego State athletics distributed more than 2,500 game tickets to victims and firefighters at Qualcomm Stadium Sunday afternoon. This weekend, victims and firefighters can still gain free admittance to the Air Force game at Window G of Qualcomm Stadium.

On game night, the Air Force Academy's "Wings of Blue" will parachute into Qualcomm Stadium at approximately 5:40 p.m. Also on hand will be the "Cadet Drum and Bugle Corps" from Air Force. That 150-member band will perform at halftime, as will "The Marching Aztecs".

During the game, "Air Craft" will get some help. The Mighty 1090, the radio home of San Diego State football, recently held an auction for fire victims. One of the items purchased was the right to call one SDSU offensive play against Air Force.

The Air Force game is also "Senior Night" at SDSU with 20 Aztecs playing their final game in the red and black. Kickoff is set for 6:05 p.m.
