In The RPI: In the 2003-04 preseason strength of schedule report released by the WBCA on Oct. 21, SDSU's schedule is ranked 152nd of the 324 NCAA Division I teams. Vanguard is ranked fourth in the 2003-04 preseason NAIA national rankings.

SDSU Head Coach Jim Tomey: Tomey (Michigan '81) is in his second season at San Diego State after taking over the Aztec helm on April 9, 2002. His career and Aztec head coaching record is 9-18.

Vanguard Head Coach Russ Davis: Davis is in his eighth season with the Lions. His Vanguard and career head coaching record is 164-67.
