SDSU rowers wraps up fall season
* San Diego State races in its fourth and final regatta of the fall season at the San Diego Fall Classic on Nov. 9. The Aztecs will compete in the Women's Novice Eight race at 8 a.m., the Women's Novice 4+ at 9:10 a.m. and then in the Women's Collegiate Eight at 9:40 a.m. The finish line will be right in front of the San Diego Rowing Club at the end of El Carmel Place in Mission Beach (just to the east of Mission Boulevard).
* The Aztecs boats finished 6th, 12th and 19th of 25 boats at the Newport Fall Rowing Festival last Sunday. The novice eight boat finished 4th of 28.

Newport Fall Rowing Festival
* All three San Diego State eights raced at the Newport Fall Rowing Festival last Sunday. The "A" boat finished 6th (17:29) and beat out UCLA (17:30) and Loyola Marymount (17:47), boats that had recorded faster times than the Aztecs in last year's race.
* The Aztec "B" boat beat out UCLA's "B" boat by 11 seconds (17:51 to 18:02) and finished 12th, while SDSU's "C" boat finished in 18:45, good for 19th place
* The novice boat finished 4th of 28 boats with a time of 17:59. "It was our novice team's first race ever," head coach Jennifer Zebroski said. "They had a great attitude, were excited about the race and I'm pleased with their result. We're excited that they got to compete after only being able to practice on Friday and Saturday this week (due to the poor air quality in the San Diego area earlier in the week)."

Creason leads novice boat to 4th-place finish
* A freshman from Hemet, Calif., Mary Creason led the SDSU "C" boat to an impressive 4th-place finish at last Sunday's novice eight race.
* "Mary Creason did an excellent job coxing her first race (for the novice boat)," Zebroski added. "She remained upbeat and positive during the race and motivated the athletes to their fourth-place finish."

San Diego Fall Classic
* The San Diego Fall Classic will be SDSU's only fall race taking place at Mission Bay. The start of the 3.5-mile race will be in the South Pacific Passage (northeast of Sea World) and the race will head east, north through Fiesta Bay and back, before heading east through Mission Bay Channel and north to the San Diego Rowing Club at the end of El Carmel Place (just to the east of Mission Boulevard).

Looking to the spring
* San Diego State will commence spring races with a scrimmage against Orange Coast College on Feb. 21 and a battle with the alumni on Feb. 28 before taking part in the Parker Cup Regatta in Marina Del Rey, Calif., on March 6. The San Diego City Championships (against UC San Diego and the University of San Diego) on March 28 and the San Diego Crew Classic (more than 100 teams competed last year) from April 3-4 round out the local regattas that will take place at Mission Bay. The Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships will take place from May 1-2, while the Pacific Coast Rowing Championships will be May 15 and the Pac-10 Championships will be May 16. The NCAA Championships are May 28-30. All four of those championship regattas will be in Sacramento. The prestigious Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships will be June 3-5 in Camden, N.J.
