SDSU's Felix Hardt Earns Position in Main Draw at Grand Slam Event

SAN DIEGO - San Diego State senior Felix Hardt earned a spot in the main draw of the season's first grand slam event on Wednesday with a 7-6 (4), 2-6, 6-4 victory over Scott Schnugg of Georgia Tech in the Icy Hot/ITA Men's All-American Championships Qualifying Tournament in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Hardt, who along with senior Ryan Redondo was already in the main draw of the doubles field, earned a berth in the singles main draw by winning two matches in the qualifying tournament.

Hardt will face 61st-ranked Stephen Mitchell of Alabama in the round of 64 on Thursday.

The doubles team of Hardt and Redondo, ranked 12th nationally, will play their first match of the tournament on Thursday, in the round of 32, against 22nd-ranked Johan Brunstrom and Henrik Soderberg of SMU.
