SAN DIEGO - San Diego State got a season-high 17 kills from Zlatina Anguelova as it overcame a stubborn Cal State Fullerton team, 3-0 (30-25, 30-28, 30-23), Tuesday evening in Peterson Gym. The win allowed SDSU to halt a short two-match losing streak and improve to 10-8 on the season. With the loss, the Titans fell to 7-10.
Throughout the match, Anguelova showed the form that earned her all-conference honors last season. She hit a personal season-best .455 and also contributed nine digs.
Teammate Kara Moriarty also had a fine game, recording her third double-double of the year with 13 kills and 11 digs while also marking a career best with four service aces. Two other Aztecs finished the contest in double figures in kills: Aspen McPartland (11) and Megan Schauermann (10).

The Titans were paced by the hitting of Elena Goldina and Lauren Goins, who finished the night with 13 and 11 kills respectively.
With SDSU leading 9-8 in game one, the home team outscored the visitors 6-1 to take a 15-9 lead, going on to the five-point victory. Moriarty paced the Aztecs with seven kills while Goldina kept Fullerton close with five.
Game two was a story of momentum shifts on both sides of the net. Trailing 6-4, the Aztecs went on a 12-2 run to take a 16-8 lead. However, Fullerton fought back to tie the game at 22-22 and went on to take the lead at 25-23. It was then SDSU's turn, getting a pair of kills from Anguelova, one each from McPartland and Schauermann, and an ace from Engstrom on the way to the two-point victory.
In game three, a one-point Aztec lead at 18-17 turned to a seven-point advantage at 27-20 behind the play of Anguelova and Moriarty down the stretch. Goldina (6 kills) and Goins (5 kills) led the Titans, but it wasn't enough to prevent SDSU from claiming the win.
San Diego returns to action Friday night when it host New Mexico in Peterson Gym at 7:00 p.m. The contest will mark the 1000th match in the history of Aztec volleyball.
