SDSU Women's Crew Opens Fall Season

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The San Diego State women's crew team commenced the fall portion of their schedule with the Head of the American women's open 8+ race Saturday afternoon in Sacramento, Calif. The Aztec "A" boat finished 8th place in the 6K race with a time of 19:10. The "B" boat finished in 19:21 (10th) and the "C" boat tied for 13th with Sacramento State's "C" boat at 20:19.

"I'm pleased with the results," said first-year head coach Jennifer Zebroski, who coached her first collegiate race Saturday. "This weekend was a good start to our season and it's great to have a starting place, a place to jump off from, going into the rest of the season.

"We're looking forward to tomorrow's Head of the Estuary race (in Oakland, Calif.) where we can improve on some of our techniques from today."

California won the race with a time of 17:44, just beating out USC's "A" boat (17:46).

The Aztec women's crew teams remains in northern California, racing at the Head of the Estuary at 9:30 a.m. Sunday in Oakland, Calif.
