SAN DIEGO - San Diego State senior Felix Hardt won a pair of matches to advance to the round of 16 at the ITA Men's Western Regional Championship on Thursday at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif.
Hardt, the tournament's nine-seed, defeated San Francisco's Mason Fuller 6-1, 6-0 in the round of 64 before disposing of Rafael Corrazza, another Don player, in the round of 32 by a 6-2, 6-1 score.
Hardt dropped just four games in four sets in advancing to the round of 16.
Aztec sophomore Daniel Jung was not as fortunate as he fell to Arizona State's Chris Stewart, 4-6, 7-6, 7-6 in the round of 64.
In doubles action, Hardt and Jung advanced to the round of 16 with an 8-1 first-round victory over Peter Surapol and Eric Yandoc of UC Irvine.
The championships continue tomorrow.
