SAN DIEGO - San Diego State got off to a slow start at the Barona Creek Collegiate Cup in San Diego as they fired an opening round 300 and sit in 16th place after one round of play. The second round did not get finished on Monday due to darkness and will be completed with the third and final round on Tuesday at Barona Creek Golf Club. Colorado State leads the tournament after shooting 273 on the opening 18 holes.
Andrew Scott shot a one-under 71 to lead SDSU. Scott opened with a front nine of 35 and finished with an even-par 36 on the back for his first round total. Scott is tied for 26th but only six strokes off the pace of leader Chris Cousins from UAB who posted a seven-under 65. Jamie Puterbaugh and Jeff Hansen both shot 76, while Cory Segall and Aaron Goldberg shot 77.
The Aztecs are the defending champions of the Barona Collegiate Cup and will look to get back in contention in Tuesday's final action.
