SALT LAKE CITY - San Diego State hit a season-low .033 and fell to Utah, 3-0 (30-18, 30-17, 30-24) at the Utes' Crimson Court in Salt Lake City Saturday night. The loss kept Utah ion second place in the conference at 6-1 as it improved to 12-6 overall. The Aztecs saw their record fall to 12-10 on the season and 3-4 in league play.
For one of the few times this season, SDSU was out-blocked as the Utes recorded a team total of 11 to five for the visitors. Megan Schauermann, who is among the top 10 blockers in the country, was held without a block over the three-game match.
Utah's Shelly Sommerfeldt led all players with 15 kills while teammate Kim Turner had 14. The duo recorded attack percentage of .419 and .500 respectively as Utah hit .327 as a team.
San Diego State was led by senior middle blocker Aspen McPartland, who finished the night with 10 kills.
The Aztecs return home to Peterson Gym on Friday (Oct. 24) to take on conference foe UNLV in a match scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start.
