SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Utah women's soccer team (13-2-0, 4-0-0 MWC) defeated the San Diego State Aztecs (6-8-1, 1-2-0 MWC) Saturday afternoon in a Mountain West Conference match-up, 2-0.

The teams settled into a defensive battle throughout the first half. Ute forward Amanda Feigt had the first shot of the match, at the 16:04 mark. The game went shot-less from the 33:54 mark until Aztec forward JoBette Nabarro had a shot at the first-half horn. Utah out-shot the Aztecs, 4-3, in the first half.

At the 58:42 mark, Ute midfielder Amber Brower took a pass from Feigt and dribbled down the right side before depositing the ball in the lower left corner of the net. Midfielder Bobbie Benegas added to the Ute goal total with a shot from 10 yards out at the 82:30 mark after dribbling down the middle of the field.

Utah out-shot the Aztecs for the game, 12-8, and earned a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Forward Gina Salinas recorded two shots to lead the Aztec offense. Six other Aztecs had one shot each.

"We weren't quite quick enough to balls and played lethargic," head coach Chuck Clegg said. "We got behind Utah a couple of times, but we've got to be sharper."

The Utes, ranked No. 19 in this week's NSCAA/adidas national poll, won their fourth straight game and, along with Wyoming (8-6-0, 3-0-0 MWC), are undefeated in MWC play.

San Diego State returns to the mountains for more MWC action, playing at Air Force (6-7-1, 0-2-0 MWC) at 4 p.m. MDT Friday and at New Mexico (1-8-3, 0-3-0 MWC) at noon MDT Sunday.
