RIVERSIDE, Calif. - San Diego State (4-5-0) dominated most of the run of play Wednesday against UC Riverside (6-3-2), but the Highlanders made their chances count with two first-half goals, topping San Diego State, 2-0, in a women's soccer match. The loss ended a three-game winning streak for the Aztecs.

The Aztecs out-shot UC Riverside 19-9 for the match, including 10-4 in the second half. In the first half, UC Riverside didn't record a shot until the 14:24 mark. Forward Vanessa Chanez opened the match's scoring with an unassisted goal at the 24:32 mark.

Forward Amber Plumlee added to the Highlander score with a goal from about 12 yards out at the 39:38 mark. A nice pass from midfielder Kelly Hurley from 30 yards out earned her the assist.

SDSU took the next 12 shots and out-shot UCR the reminder of the game, 13-4, but could not find the back of the net. UC Riverside did not record a shot for a stretch of 45:37.

Defender Amanda Swiader and forward Gina Salinas both recorded two shots on goal, while defenders Erica Lopez and Noelle Jouglet, midfielders Taviana Shabestari and Jessica Korpela and forward Becky Prilaman all had one shot on goal each.

San Diego State hosts Arizona State (6-1-1), ranked No. 12 by Soccer Buzz and No. 16 by Soccer America, at 3 p.m. Friday.
