SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. - San Diego State finished seventh out of 14 schools at the Mid Pines Intercollegiate, their first tournament of the 2003-04 season. The Aztecs fired a 285 in the third and final round on Tuesday to close out the tournament with an 861 (-3) total. SDSU shot 288 in both of the first two rounds. The University of California won the Mid Pines championship with a score of 832. The tournament was hosted by the University of North Carolina-Greensboro in Southern Pines, N.C.
Senior Mark Warman led SDSU for the tournament finishing at four-under par, 212, which was good for eighth individually. Warman opened the tournament with two rounds of 70 on Monday, and finished with an even par 72 in today's final round. It was the eighth top-10 finish of Warman's career at SDSU.
Cory Segall also cracked the top 20 with a total of 214, to finish 19th overall. Segall was three-under entering the day and finished with a 73. Jeff Hansen fired a four-under 68 in today's final round, the third lowest round of the day and the Aztecs top score. Hansen placed 24th overall with a total of 216 for the tournament. Linus Nilsson finished out the scoring for SDSU with a 72 on Tuesday.
The Aztecs will compete again this weekend (Sept. 12-13) at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate hosted by the University of New Mexico.
