SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. - San Diego State opened up the 2003-04 season with two rounds of 288 at the Mid Pines Intercollegiate in Southern Pines, North Carolina. SDSU sits in seventh place at 576 after the first two rounds of action, and will finish the 54-hole tournament on Tuesday. The University of California leads the tourney at 559.
Senior Mark Warman led SDSU with a pair of 70's in Monday's action. Warman is in sixth place as an individual, nine strokes off the pace set by Jeff Hood of California. Cory Segall shot 70-71=141 and is in 10th. Kyle Forbes shot 76-74, and the Aztecs finished by counting a 72 by Jeff Hansen in round one and a 73 by Linus Nilsson in the second round.
San Diego State is coming off a NCAA Championship appearance in 2003 and is looking for similar results this season. The Mid Pines Intercollegiate is hosted by the University of North Carolina Greensboro. The final 18 holes will begin at 8:00 am (ET) on Tuesday.
