SDSU Women's Golf Places 11th At Dick McGuire

Albuquerque, N.M - San Diego State jumped up three places with the fifth best team score in the final round of the Dick McGuire Invitational to place 11th out of 17 teams. The Aztecs fired a 310 (+18) in Saturday's 18-holes to finish the 54-hole tournament at 930 (+54). Only four teams bettered the Aztecs in very tough scoring conditions for the final round. Host New Mexico ran away with the tournament winning the championship by 16 strokes at 871 (-5). SDSU ended up only four strokes behind a four team tie for seventh place. Shayna Miyajima shot her second consecutive 74 (+1) and finished the tournament in 11th place with a total of 223 (+4).

Miyajima's 74 tied for the sixth best round of the day as only one player broke par on Saturday. Shayna remained steady for the third consecutive day as she posted one birdie, with two bogeys and 15 pars.

Senior Sandy Kim finished the tournament in 35th after firing a final round 79 for a total of 232 (+13). Kim shot a one-under 72 in the second round of the tournament, the best score for the Aztecs in their first tournament of the season

Jenna Wilson shot her best round of the tournament with a Saturday round of 75 (+2), the second best score for SDSU on the day. Wilson totaled 235 (+16) in her first tournament as an Aztec to place in a tie for 42nd.

Heather MacRae placed in 65th position after shooting 82 (+9) for a overall score of 242 (+23). Jamie Oliver also shot 82 on Saturday and ended in a tie for 70th at 244 (+25). Megan Maulhaupt competed as an individual for the Aztecs and also finished with a 244 total.

SDSU will compete next on October 6-8 at the Colorado/Heather Farr Memorial tournament in Boulder, Colo.
