Aztecs head to Utah with wins in mind * San Diego State travels to Cedar City, Utah, this weekend with games scheduled at 4 p.m. MDT Sept. 19 at Southern Utah and at 3 p.m. MDT vs. Weber State. * The Thunderbirds enter the week 0-6-0 and host Idaho State (3-1-1) on Sept. 18. * Weber State is 1-3-2 on the season.
Castellanos one goal away from second * Senior forward Kim Castellanos is climbing her way up the SDSU record books. She is currently third in career goals with 33, just behind Catherine McGuire (1995-98), who totaled 34 in her illustrious career. Lori LaCoursiere (1996-99) holds the school record with 52. * Castellanos is also third in points with 75. LaCoursiere holds the Aztec record with 148, while McGuire compiled 103 in her career.
Castellanos recovering from an injury * Forward Kim Castellanos is recovering from an ankle injury and did not travel with the team to Kansas.
Pearson in fifth all-time for saves * Senior goalkeeper Stephanie Pearson has recorded 71 saves in her two-plus years at SDSU (following a one-year stint at Hawai'i), which places her fifth on San Diego State's all-time list. Elizabeth Judkins (1994-95) is fourth with 133, while Lorena Snyder (1990-93) holds the school record with 204.
Alexis Solovij makes all-tournament team * Midfielder Alexis Solovij was named to the KUStore.com Crimson and Blue Invitational all-tournament team for her impressive play in last weekend's tournament. "She did a good job controlling the midfield and held onto the ball well," head coach Chuck Clegg said.
Becky Prilaman scores third goal of career * Senior forward Becky Prilaman scored the third goal of her career against Florida State on Sept. 14. Her goal came at the 83:15 mark. Her two previous career goals came against New Mexico in the 2000 MWC tournament on Nov. 1 of that year and against Nevada on Oct. 13, 2002.
Scouting Southern Utah * Southern Utah enters the match with San Diego State still searching for their first win, having started 0-6-0. The Thunderbirds have had a rough go of it since adding women's soccer to its varsity sport list in 2001, having compiled an all-time 4-38-0 record. * The Thunderbirds compete in the Mid-Continent Conference, a spread-out league geographically, which is comprised of four Midwest teams and one school each in Oklahoma, Louisiana and SUU in Utah. * Midfielder Chaysie Call has one goal and one assist for the Thunderbirds, while midfielder Katie Baugh has contributed one goal. Both SUU goals came in a 5-2 loss to UNLV on Sept. 3. * The Thunderbirds have been out-scored 22-2 and out-shot 149-27 (an average of 25-5). * San Diego State and Southern Utah have never met in women's soccer.
Scouting Weber State * The Wildcats (1-3-2) are coming off their first win of the season, a 1-0 victory on Sept. 13 over Nevada, a team SDSU hosts on Sept. 26. * Defender Krista Davis is leading Weber State in scoring with two goals. Midfielder Rochelle Hoover and forward Lindsay Davis each have one goal and one assist for the Wildcats. * Goalkeeper Kandice Golar has started five games and compiled a 1.62 goals against average. * In their only meeting, the Aztecs defeated Weber State, 2-0, on Sept. 13, 2002, as part of the UNLV / FILA Classic.
