Volleyball Wins Third Straight With 3-1 Decision Over Oral Roberts

Wichita, Kan. - San Diego State made it three-for-three at the Green Mill Restaurant Volleyball Classic with a 3-1 (23-30, 30-26, 30-24,30-19) win over Oral Roberts Saturday afternoon at Wichita State's Charles Koch Arena. The Aztecs improve to 7-3 on the year as the Golden Eagles fall to 4-6. SDSU will face the host Wichita State Shockers for the tourney title later this evening.

Senior Aspen McPartland led all players with 19 kills while teammate Kara Moriarty recorded a double-double with 15 kills and 13 assists. Zlatina Anguelova also reached double figures for the Aztecs with 14 kills.

San Diego State continued its dominating net play, out-blocking Oral Roberts 14-5. Megan Schauermann followed up her back-to-back eight-block efforts of Friday with nine against the Golden Eagles. Setter Sara Engstrom and McPartland also had five apiece blocks for the Aztecs.

Oral Roberts had three players in double figures in kills led by Becky Brunelle and Ori Zuzic, each with 16. As a team, ORU hit .209 for the match compared to .254 for SDSU.

The Aztecs will face Wichita State Saturday night (Sept. 13) beginning at 7:30 p.m. (CDT).
