Albuquerque, N.M. - San Diego State fired a team round of 300 in Saturday's final round to finish the three-round tournament at 888 (+24), which was good for a tie for eighth out of 20 schools at the William H. Tucker Invitational. New Mexico hosted 20 schools for the tournament with many ranked in the nation's top-25 including #8 Arizona State, who earned the win at 865 (+1). SDSU finished only six strokes behind fourth place Texas Tech. Aaron Choi led SDSU as he fired a 219 for the tournament and placed 17th as an individual.
The Aztecs shot 293 and 295 in the first two rounds of action on Friday, but scoring conditions were tougher in Saturday's final round. Only four schools broke 295 on Saturday compared to 12 schools on Friday. Choi fired the Aztecs low score of the day at 73 to follow up rounds of 74 and 72. It is the eighth top-20 finish for Choi, who is in his third year of action for the Aztecs.
Mark Warman entered the day tied with Choi after scores of 72-74 on Friday, and shot 75 in the final round to finish at 221 and in a tie for 30th. Aaron Goldberg, Andrew Scott, and Jamie Puterbaugh all shot 76 on Saturday. Goldberg ended with a 222 total and in a tie for 34th.
SDSU will take a week off before returning to the links on September 29 at the Opus Northwest Husky Invitational hosted by the University of Washington.
