San Diego - SDSU senior middle blocker Aspen McPartland has been named to the seven-member 2003 preseason all-Mountain West Conference team.
The fourth-year Aztec was an all-MWC selection last season and was the conference co-Player of the Year. She was also named to the all-tournament team at the 2002 MWC championships.
McPartland, who attended nearby Grossmont High in La Mesa, was among the league leaders in hitting (.319), digs (3.23 dpg) and blocks 1.24 bpg) as a junior last season.
In other preseason news, San Diego State has been picked to finish fourth in the Mountain West Conference in a vote of league coaches. The Aztecs finished second last year after being tabbed for a fourth-place finish in the preseason poll.
Utah, which received five first-place votes, was picked to win the league followed by defending champion Colorado State and Brigham Young. San Diego State received one first-place vote.
SDSU opens it 2003 campaign on August 29 when it hosts Rice at 7:30 p.m. in Peterson Gym as part of its annual early-season tournament.
